First Annual General Meeting of JKAPCL

First Annual General Meeting of the "Jhambukhand Kisan Agro Producer Company Limited, Banswara(Raj.) a company formed under NAIP sub-project sanctioned to MPUAT, Udaipur (component-3) will be held on 23rd of September, 2010 at village - Vajakhara (Sagawaria), Banswara. Over 800 shareholder farmers are likely to participate.

Dr. Mehta and Dr. Singh visited NAIP operational area

RPC Chairman Dr.S.L.Mehta and Director, World Agro-forestry Centre (ICRAF) Dr. V.P.Singh visited villages of NAIP cluster Mavli-I for implementation of NAIP component-1 project (Enabling Small Holders to Improve their Livelihood and Benefit from Carbon Finance). They discussed the project with the villagers and advised them to take advantage of carbon finance by bringing more area under plantation and other interventions. On this occasion CPI Dr. I.J.Mathur, Co-PI's Dr. B.L.Baser, Dr.R.P.S.Yadav and Dr. S.K.Intodia were also present. In the morning Dr. Singh interacted with Director Extension and Co-PI's of the NAIP sanctioned project to MPUAT, Udaipur under component-3. He appraised partners for taking advantage of carbon finance for improving livelihoods of tribal households.

The Consortium Implementation Committee Meeting

The Consortium Implementation Committee Meeting of the NAIP sanctioned sub-project to MPUAT, Udaipur under component-3 was held on 18th August, 2010 in the chairmanship of Hon'ble Vice-chancellor & Consortioum Leader Dr. S.S. Chahal to review the progress and action plan of consortium. In the meeting training programme of all the partners reviewed and re-designed with major emphasis on skill development of youth and farm households. The committe also reviewed the status of fund utilization. It was decided that high impact interventions should be given emphasis for horizontal expansion in the operational area. Vegetable cultivation and Seed replacement made dent across the clusters. All the partners were requested to complete "Krishak Darpan" (Entitlement Card), so that models for each cluster can be worked out. Further, each partner should develop integrated package for households and villages in their operational area. Sustainability Fund accounts must be audited before VI CAC meeting. Synergy with line departments should be strenghthened for horizontal expansion of successful interventions. IARI was requested to organize a training on protected cultivation at New Delhi. HVC & CL Dr.S.L. Chahal said that there will be separate pages for NAIP in the university magazine "Rajasthan Kheti- Pratap" from next month. He emphasized on the documentation of successful models with good photographs. He congratulated all the partners for their selfless efforts for livelihood security of tribal farmers.

JKAPCL Registered under Company Act

JHAMBUKHAND KISAN AGRO PRODUCER COMPANY LIMITED (JKAPCL), a producer company formed under NAIP sub-project sanctioned to MPUAT, Udaipur has been registered under Company Act, 1956 ( No. 1 of 1956) by the Registrar of Companies, Rajasthan, Jaipur. The Corporate Identity of the Company is UO 1122 RJ 2010PTC032229. With this achievement, now the company be able to do big deals. This is the unique company in Rajasthan owned and runned by farmers. The efforts made by consortium partner ACCESS Development Services, Udaipur deserves apprecition of feat for achieving the NAIP goal.

Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chahal visited NAIP activities in Abu Road cluster of Sirohi


Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor and Consortium Leader of NAIP (Comp.-3) Dr. S.S.Chahal alongwith Consortium PI & Director Extension Dr. I.J.Mathur visited NAIP activities in Abu Road Cluster. They visited Jhamar and Moongthala villages where farmers earned very good remuneration from vegetables. Sh. Nana Ram Garasia of Jhamar earned Rs. 60000/- just from 0.2 ha land by growing hybrid okra (Mahyco No.-10 and Slender). Similarly many farmers earned very good returns from vegetables. Dr. Chahal while discussing with farmers emphasized that livelihood of farm families have been improved by NAIP interventions and an additional income should be used in right way so that their living standard can be improved. He also emphasized for education of their children. Dr. Chahal visited fennel nursery in village Kachholi where a progressive farmer Mr. Isaq raised a nursery in 1 acre area in a scientic way. Mr. Isaq has excellence in fennel cultivation and sold fennel after grading & processing and also exporting to Gulf countries. Dr. Chahal visited a papaya orchard ( Taiwan Red Lady) of Mr. Jorawar Singh. The orchard is in 2ha area and is only 1 year old with good bearing even under water scarcity condition. He appreciated the efforts made by the Programme Coordinator and Scientists of KVK, Sirohi for improving livelihood of farming community.

RPC Chairman Dr. Mehta and RVRSKVV Vice- Chancellor Dr.Tomar spent two days in NAIP operational area

Dr. S.L .Mehta, Chairman, RPC ( NAIP), ICAR , New Delhi and former V.C. , MPUAT, Udaipur along with Vice-Chancellor of Rajmata Vijataraje Sindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior Dr. Tomar and Director Research Services Dr. Yadav spent two days visiting NAIP Comp-3 project activities in Banswara and Udaipur districts on 14 & 15 May,2010.
They visited Garhi and Talwara clusters of NAIP in Banswara district and took first hand feedback about Farmers Business Groups and Producer Company’s established by consortium ACCESS Development Services. The producer company is not only providing agri-inputs at their doorsteps timely at reasonable rate but also marketing the aggregate produce of farmer.
Dr. Mehta and Dr. Tomar interacted with Producer Company’s Executive Members. They also visited village Vajakhera where mobile seed producing unit of NAIP was grading wheat seed and produce.
The Progamme Coordinator, KVK, Banswara, the NAIP implementing centre showed vegetable demonstrations of okra, chillies, where farmers reaped bumper harvest and eared Rs 15000 to Rs 75000 from 0.2 ha land. They also saw intervention on safe storage of grains, nutri- gardens, mangers, vermin-compost units, goat units, backyard poultry, etc. and took feedback from farm families. They also interacted with beneficiary farmers. They deeply pleased with the impact visible in the area.
On 15th May both the dignitaries visited Mavli-I cluster implemented by DEE- SVSN and saw interventions on poly houses and orchards of pomegranate. Dr. B. L. Baser appraised them about the activities of the cluster.
In the afternoon they also visited village Bijanwas where implementing centre IFFDC took vegetable cultivation especially chillies and cluster bean. There farmers also earned more than Rs. 75000 from just 0.2 ha land. Chillies were sold @ Rs 35 and 45/-. Cluster bean also provided handsome return. Dr. Mehta expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the project and its impact as improving the livelihood of small and marginal farmers.

WORLD BANK TEAM VISITED NAIP ACTIVITIES IN DUNGARPUR DISTRICT

World Bank Team members Mr. Nathan Belete, Preeti Kumar, Robin and Consultants Mr. Chetan Agarwal and Pooja Batra visited NAIP activities in Dungarpur distict. These members visited Rural Technology Centre and Milk Collection Centre and Vegetable demonstrations in Bichhiwara cluster and interacted with farmers and Co-PI Shri D.L.Vyas of PEDO. Members also visited Dabela and Faloj villages where KVK, Dungarpur is implementing the programme. They interacted with Scientists and farmers regarding various interventions provided in the project. In Dabela they interacted with members of Producer Company “Vagad Kisan Vyavasang Sangh". Members appreciated the efforts being done for livelihood security of farmers. They suggested that more efforts are required for conservation of water.

JambukhandKisan Producer Company's (JKPCL) first retail venture in Partapur

JKPCL is a farmers' federation based in Sagwadia, Banswara. JKPCL has been formed under the NAIP project with the facilitation of Lead Centre, Maharana PratapUniversity of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur and Access Development Services,Udaipur. JKPCL is planning to open a chain of retail stores in the potential markets in order to support the farming community and meet the local demand. The company is opening first of its kind in Partapur as a Fresh Vegetable Retailshop on 16th March, 2010.

Board of Management Appreciate NAIP ( Comp.-3) Work

The Chairman of the Board of Management of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur invited Consortium Principal Investigator of NAIP sanctioned sub-project under Component -3 for presentation in the meeting on 12th March, 2010.
The CPI-Dr. I.J.Mathur presented detailed objectives of the project, innovations made, process documentation and achievements of the last two years. The members appreciated the innovations and work done on such a large scale in the tribal areas of Rajasthan for ascertaining livelihood security. The members suggested that since state in under the grip of drought, efforts be made for promoting water conservation technologies, promoting protected cultivation. The members also suggested that in A.I, Gir breed of cattle be promoted. We should also ensure quality semen for A.I. The Board members Shri Hemant Bohra, Dr.S.R.Chaudhary, Dr.K.B.Sharma, Mr. Nathani, Dr.P.M.Jain, Dr.(Smt.) Maya Choudhary, Dr.Bhawani Singh Rathore, Comptroller Mr. Bhupesh Mathur and Registrar Mr.Furqan Khan were present. The meeting was chaired by Consortium Leader & Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.S.Chahal.

Padma Bhusan Sh. Anil Bordia visited field activities in NAIP operational area

Padma Bhusan Sh. Anil Bordia along with Mrs. Otima Bordia, UPSC Member , Dr. S.L.Mehta, RPCChairman (NAIP) & Fomer Vice- Chancellor, MPUAT visited NAIP activities in Jharna village of Mavli-I cluster . They were very much impressed with the activities going in the field for livelihood security of tribal farmers especially raising of vegetable seedlings in polyhouses, orchards of pomegranate, high density guava orchards, mangers, pipe irrigation,etc. They interacted with the farmers and took feed back about various interventions tested. They adressed a group of farmers and others at Rural Technology Centre at Jharana. CPI Dr. I.J.Mathur, S.K.Intodia , SVSN Secretary, Dr.B.L.Baser and other Trustee's of SVSN were also present. Dr. H.S. Chundawat of Alakh Nayan Mandir declared that he will organize eye treatment camps for all the households of Mavli-I cluster free of cost. Vice- President (HRD), Hindustan Zinc Ltd., Udaipur Sh. Ahmed Sultan also declared for more support to families of NAIP selected villages.
